WHWC Monthly Theme #1: Selected bookmarks

march 13 2025

the "small web" is usually referred to as an alternative to mainstream uses of the internet, like social media. so, in response to this month's theme for WHWC, I wanted to link some sites I like that I think are relevantly niche.

gamera inspired me to make a site for reviews, and its design is fun.

I like their visual novel HEARTLOVEPOWERTEMPLE, and the Second Life in 2025. I'm kind of cheating because I first discovered the artist on social media a long time ago, but I've since only accessed their work through their site, OK.

a webcomic that takes good advantage of the medium. warnings from the index page that I didn't want to link directly because it also links to porn: slavery, child abuse, violence, language.

journal of fujo-bataille studies. I have their submissions page bookmarked, specifically. but I'll never submit anything. I know they ask you for your worst garbage but the published writing isn't even garbage; a lot of it is so tastefully irony poisoned without even being (too) corny...

this won money from Anna's Archive and I thought it was cool. are pirating sites "small web" ? maybe they're used by a good majority of people, but they're definitely not corporatized. I guess you can say they're independent alternatives to mainstream bookstores or streaming services or something.
